5 Items for Your Baby in the Winter
One of the hardest seasons for me when DJ & Brooklyn were babies was the winter. It was a bit easier with DJ to transition, because he was a summer baby born on a sunny 106 degree day. Brooklyn on the other had is a winter baby, and was born on a rainy 48 degree day. In Vegas that’s almost as cold as it gets normally. I found that there is only a handful of items that I needed specifically for the winter. Of course, if you live in a much colder area you might need more than I do. I came up with a list of 5 items for your baby in the winter that I hope you find helpful.
5 Items for Your Baby in the Winter
Fleece Footed Jumpsuit
Anytime we went outside to the supermarket or a doctor’s appointment, I made sure to layer a footed jumpsuit over a long-sleeved onesie. Coats are a huge no-no in their car seats, so I made sure they were able to stay warm without one.
Footed Pajamas
This was essential during the winter nights, especially once they outgrew a sleep sack. Blankets are not safe for babies, so I wanted to keep them warm at night.
Humidifier
Las Vegas is dry in general. It’s even dryer in the winter. I made sure to keep this going every night while they slept. In fact, I still use this today in their room. I love the one I have, because it projects stars on the ceiling.
NoseFrida
I won’t lie, when I first saw this I thought it looked disgusting. Now I know how much of a lifesaver it can be. It makes sucking out their boogers so much easier. They still fight me, so it’s not 100% easier, but it’s probably 90% easier. We bought this when DJ had pneumonia and RSV, because we needed a quicker way to get all the boogers out of his nose. We still use this all the time. In fact, we used it on Brooklyn last night.
Halo SleepSack
This was my favorite item for DJ & Brooklyn in general. When they were first born I used the swaddle version, but for DJ he was done with the swaddle once it was the winter. He used the regular sleepsack. I can’t recommend this enough. This reassured me that my babies weren’t freezing at night.
As I stated above, I know there are plenty of other items that might be needed during the winter. These are just the 5 that were essential for me and my family. You can check out my newborn must haves here, and my diaper bag essentials here.

The sleep sack was soooo useful. My son loved to snuggle in it. Also the onesie pjs with covered feet are so important. We get cold nights in around the Toronto area in winter, so that onesie worked like a charm.
