Diaper Bag Essentials
My Diaper Bag Essentials
My diaper bag essentials has changed since DJ was first born. My diaper bag is no longer for one newborn, it is for 2 toddlers (1 year old girl & 2 year old boy). Surpringly, I am convinced I have the same amount or less than I had when I had just had one newborn. This list is suitable for all ages, just adjust according to age and the amount of children. I try to have one diaper per hour I think I’ll be out. Since DJ is potty training I don’t need as many for him.
Diapers & Wipes
These are the most obvious items on the list; however, you would be shocked at how many times I have forgotten to add more of either one to my bag. Nothing is worse than a pooped baby, and not having any wipes. Trust me. Always check before you walk out the door.
Another item I have forgotten to put back in the bag. When my children were newborns they would have about 5 extra outfits. Now I can get by with one outfit per child. Tip: Remember to change the clothes out with the season. You don’t want a baby in shorts and a tank top during the winter.
Snacks & Drinks
Depending on the age of your child this will vary. If you have a newborn, and you breastfeed than you can skip this all together. I try to bring a plethora of snacks Seriously, I bring enough snacks to last a few days. I end up putting most of them away when I get back. I always bring a sippy cup for each of them with water, or empty if we are headed somewhere to eat.
Toys & Books
Entertainment is a must. I had to go Christmas shopping this last year without having any way to entertain them. It was an unpleasant time for sure. I try to bring two or three toys and two books.
This is for me, not the little ones. I use hand sanitizer even after I wash my hands (after a diaper change). I usually use this brand, but right now I have a regular hand sanitizer I got for free during a work trip my husband won.
I have forgotten to put my wallet back into my diaper bag too many times. I use a small pocket in my diaper bag for my wallet, phone, keys, and sunglasses.
I’m not sure if you can tell I’m a pretty forgetful person. That is why I cannot stress enough to always double check your diaper bag to leave. I have a list in my phone of these diaper bag essentials that I run through every time I’m about to leave the house. I won’t be caught with no wipes ever again.

These are a great list! I always keep sunscreen on hand too!
I really do need to make sure I bring sunscreen. Especially since temperatures here reach 115 in the summer! Thank you!

I always say half of parenting is just making sure you always have snacks. Lol
Yes! I have to have so many snacks on hand at all times.
You did a great job listing the diaper bag essentials. I loved the pictures in your blog did you take them yourself? Your blog looks wonderful!
Thank you! Yes! My husband went to film school, so I feel pretty lucky to have a bunch of equipment at home, and lucky to have him to teach me.
You definitely covered the essentials! I used to always have so much unnecessary stuff in my diaper bag!
I ALWAYS forget hand sanitizer and books/toys! It would be a horrible day if I forgot snacks and drinks though. Thank you for sharing!
wow you have your hands full!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! 🙂
Nice list, I like to have a blanket, medical card and sunscreen.
Medical card is definitely important! I have mine plus both my little ones cards in my wallet at all times!
SNACKS. For baby. For mom. For dad. For siblings. Everyone needs snacks.
Sunscreen and snacks are definitely important!!
