Diaper Bag Essentials
My Diaper Bag Essentials
My diaper bag essentials has changed since DJ was first born. My diaper bag is no longer for one newborn, it is for 2 toddlers (1 year old girl & 2 year old boy). Surpringly, I am convinced I have the same amount or less than I had when I had just had one newborn. This list is suitable for all ages, just adjust according to age and the amount of children. I try to have one diaper per hour I think I’ll be out. Since DJ is potty training I don’t need as many for him.
Diapers & Wipes
These are the most obvious items on the list; however, you would be shocked at how many times I have forgotten to add more of either one to my bag. Nothing is worse than a pooped baby, and not having any wipes. Trust me. Always check before you walk out the door.
Extra Clothes
Another item I have forgotten to put back in the bag. When my children were newborns they would have about 5 extra outfits. Now I can get by with one outfit per child. Tip: Remember to change the clothes out with the season. You don’t want a baby in shorts and a tank top during the winter.
Snacks & Drinks
Depending on the age of your child this will vary. If you have a newborn, and you breastfeed than you can skip this all together. I try to bring a plethora of snacks Seriously, I bring enough snacks to last a few days. I end up putting most of them away when I get back. I always bring a sippy cup for each of them with water, or empty if we are headed somewhere to eat.
Toys & Books
Entertainment is a must. I had to go Christmas shopping this last year without having any way to entertain them. It was an unpleasant time for sure. I try to bring two or three toys and two books.
Hand Sanitizer
This is for me, not the little ones. I use hand sanitizer even after I wash my hands (after a diaper change). I usually use this brand, but right now I have a regular hand sanitizer I got for free during a work trip my husband won.
My Belongings
I have forgotten to put my wallet back into my diaper bag too many times. I use a small pocket in my diaper bag for my wallet, phone, keys, and sunglasses.
I’m not sure if you can tell I’m a pretty forgetful person. That is why I cannot stress enough to always double check your diaper bag to leave. I have a list in my phone of these diaper bag essentials that I run through every time I’m about to leave the house. I won’t be caught with no wipes ever again.

I really do need to make sure I bring sunscreen. Especially since temperatures here reach 115 in the summer! Thank you!

Thank you! Yes! My husband went to film school, so I feel pretty lucky to have a bunch of equipment at home, and lucky to have him to teach me.
